Turkey look for win over Korea to stay on track for finals berth

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 6, 2018 - Turkey have beaten Korea the last three times the two sides met - and now need a fourth to ensure they stay on track in the race for one of the five tickets to the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, when the two meet on Thursday. Korea have not beaten Turkey in eight years, since the 2010 FIVB World Championship.

Head-to-Head
• Turkey have won four of the previous six major world level encounters with Korea, including each of the last three.
• The women's world level major competitions are: the VNL, Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, World Grand Prix and Grand Champions Cup.
• Korea's most recent victory against Turkey at major world level was a 3-2 win at the 2010 World Championships.
• The most recent major world level meeting between Korea and Turkey came at the 2012 Olympic Games. Turkey won 3-2 in the group stage.

Korea
• Korea suffered a straight-set loss against Japan on Wednesday. This was their fifth straight-set loss in the tournament.
• The last time Korea recorded at least six straight-set defeats in a world level major competition came in the 2011 World Cup (6).
• Korea have won five VNL matches. In the last 15 years, they only won at least six matches in one major world level tournament: 2017 World Grand Prix (9).
• Korea can win their 200th match in a world level major competition.
• Kim Yeon-Koung, Yang Hyo-Jin and Lee Jaeyeong all scored a team-high eight points against Japan.

Turkey
• Turkey recorded their eighth victory in the VNL by winning 3-1 against pool 15 hosts Thailand.
• Turkey have only won more matches once in a single edition of a world level major competition as they claimed 10 wins at the 2012 World Grand Prix.
• Turkey have only failed to claim two sets in their 3-1 loss against Brazil in this year's VNL.
• Two of Turkey's three defeats at the 2018 VNL have come in five sets. They have only once lost three five-setters at a single major world level tournament, at the 2014 World Grand Prix.
• Hande Baladin scored a match-high 17 points against Thailand.
