Kakolewska: This win was so important for us

Apeldoorn, Netherlands, June 1, 2018 - Poland celebrated a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16) victory against Korea on the final day of women's FIVB Volleyball Nations League action in Apeldoorn on Thursday.

Agnieszka Kakolewska, captain of Poland: “This win was so important for us, since we need these points to stay in the Volleyball Nations League. The key to the victory today was our serves. We scored many aces, and when the ball was returned, our block and defence did the job. The next two tournaments we will play in Poland, in front of our own audience. I’m really looking forward to this.”

Jacek Nawrocki, coach of Poland: “This was a very good match from our side. If you look at the score it might seemed like an easy victory. But staying focused like we did today is not that easy. The realisation of our tactics was perfect. Playing two tournaments in Poland is extraordinary for us. We are fully focused on booking good results to make sure we will keep our spot in the Volleyball Nations League.”

Jaeyeong Lee, player of Korea: “This was not exactly an easy game for us. The Polish serves were very strong today, and we struggled passing their high blockers. Next week we will play in Thailand against the hosts, Turkey and Japan. Especially the match against Japan is very important for us, it’s always special to play them.”

Cha Haewon, coach of Korea: “Our serves today were poor, and so was our counter-attack. The teams of Poland, the Netherlands and Brazil are all very tall and are attacking and serving really well. We need to improve our receiving against teams which serve so well.”
