Thompson strikes 33 to keep USA undefeated in VNL Final Six

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 5, 2019 - Jordan Thompson became the first American player to score 30 points or more in a single FIVB Volleyball Nations League match Friday in Nanjing, scoring 33 and leading USA to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21) win over Brazil in the Final Six of the 2019 edition.

The 22-year-old opposite is also the second player to make the list during the Final Six, after Malwina Smarzek bagged 33 yesterday in Poland's five-set defeat to Brazil.

Thompson scored 30 points from attacks (30/51 for a brilliant 65% efficiency) and added two blocks and an ace to her tally.

There's a total of 16 entries in the list this season so far - compared to 14 from the inaugural VNL last year.

Her 33 points of today bring Thompson's season total to 114 - thoough with the many rotations of the USA lineup throughout the VNL, she is only the third-best scorer of her country, trailing Andrea Drews (181) and Chiaka Ogbogu (135).
