Rasic pulls VakifBank through to Champions League semis

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 13, 2020 - As VakifBank Istanbul sailed into the semifinals of the 2020 Women's European Champions League, it was a Serbian star who pulled the Turkish side through - Milena Rasic, who was named MVP of the game.

VakifBank shut out Russia's Dinamo Moscow at home in Istanbul on Thursday evening in front of about 650 fans, in one of the very few matches across Europe that was still on. It was practically a carbon copy of VakifBank's 3-0 win in the Russian capital in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie, where setter Maja Ognjenovic had picked up the MVP award.

Rasic scored 11 points, including an 8/10 for 80% in attack plus one ace and two blocks - one of only three players across both sides, alongside teammates Isabelle Haak of Sweden (17) and Michelle Bartsch of USA (10) to venture into double digits.

Four-time European champions and three-time world champions VakifBank celebrated their 150th win in the Champions League as they advanced to the top four of Europe's premiere club competition for the ninth time in the last ten seasons.

Rasic and her teammates are now looking ahead to Sunday's domestic derby against their crosstown archrivals Eczacibasi VitrA as the Regular Season of the Turkish League wraps up.
