FIVB World Congress approves affiliation of Philippine National Volleyball Federation

 

The 37th FIVB World Congress today approved the affiliation of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and recognised the organisation as the sole National Federation governing volleyball in the Philippines.

The PNVF was formed in January 2021 following democratic elections held by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) in which members from both the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) and Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas participated.

After a presentation on the steps taken by the FIVB since the 2018 FIVB World Congress, the FIVB Congress voted to recognise the validity of the PNVF elections conducted on 25 January 2021 by the POC with 151 votes for, 5 votes against and 16 abstentions.

The FIVB Congress subsequently approved the expulsion of the PVF, with 138 votes for, 16 votes against and 15 abstentions.

Finally, with a total of 155 votes for, 3 against and 13 abstentions, the FIVB Congress voted to approve the affiliation of the PNVF with the FIVB.
