Lausanne, Switzerland, June 20, 2019 – Jurmala Beach will return to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour when the venue hosts a men-only 3-Star event from August 21-25, 2019 with prize money of USD 75,000.
Local fans can look forward to seeing their favourite teams including Latvia’s leading pair of Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs – who will soon be in action in the Hamburg 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships – and who will line up for the competition that will take place at Majori Beach 40-kilometres west of the country’s capital Riga.
As a 3-Star event the champion team will receive $10,000 and 600 ranking points, which will count for the Olympic ranking towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

In 2017, Jurmala Beach hosted the CEV European Beach Volleyball Championships when Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo defeated Smedins and Samoilovs in the gold medal match. A year on the venue hosted the 2018 CEV U22 European Championship.
