Lucerne, Switzerland, May 14, 2015 - Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Fernandez of Spain won their three pool play matches during the first two days of women's FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Lucerne Open 2015 Main Draw play to advance to the second-round of the elimination bracket.After defeating teams from Switzerland and Venezuela Wednesday, the third-seeded Spaniards won their pool Thursday by defeating Maria Prokopeva and Ekaterina Syrtseva of Russia 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) in 34 minutes.
Baquerizo (27 years old) and Liliana (28) are playing in their 73rd FIVB World Tour event and will be seeking their first-ever gold medal on the international circuit after placing second three times. The Spaniards, who placed ninth at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will be seeking to advance to their eighth FIVB World Tour "final four".
