Wash4Green Pinerolo, Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia, Roma Volley Club and Volley Bergamo were the teams with the most reasons to celebrate at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 Lega Pallavolo Femminile Serie A Tigotà regular season on Sunday.

While the first three earned the right to compete in the Italian League playoffs, which start on Wednesday, Bergamo confirmed their permanence in the country’s elite for the 2024-2025 season with a point earned in dramatic fashion.

The race for the final three spots in the postseason ended when ninth-placed Trasportipesanti Casalmaggiore dropped their road match to Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-21), ending their campaign with 31 points, but each of the three teams that qualified did their homework and earned the results they needed to progress by their own efforts, all getting to 37 points.

Pinerolo hosted relegated Itas Trentino and gave them no chance, winning 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-19) to book their tickets to the playoffs. Swiss opposite Maja Storck and Italian middle blocker Yasmina Akrari tallied 14 points each and contributed to the team’s triumph.

Vallefoglia had a more difficult task in hand, facing third-placed Allianz Vero Volley Milano, but found the same level of success, advancing with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-22) victory. With 21 points, outside hitter Alice Degradi came up big for them.

Roma completed the playoff lineup with another emphatic victory, as they upset fourth-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novara 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-12) helped by 23 points from Albanian opposite Erblira Bici. It will be the first playoff appearance for the club, which is competing in the Italian elite for just the second time.

Ranked sixth, seventh and eighth respectively, Pinerolo, Vallefoglia and Roma will face Milano, Savino Del Bene Scandicci and Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano in the Italian League quarterfinals, with the first leg of the best-of-three series taking place during the week. The fourth and final encounter will feature Novara and Chieri.

Bergamo avoid relegation

In the battle to avoid relegation, Bergamo did what many considered impossible and stole a point from Scandicci, winning the first two sets before falling 3-2 (21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 15-9). The point they earned took them to 19 and was enough to make them pass Honda Olivero S. Bernardo Cuneo, who fell to Il Bisonte Firenze 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21) and ended the regular season with 18.

Lega Femminile - Match Schedule and Results

Also on the final day of the regular season, defending champions Imoco topped Uyba Volley Busto Arsizio 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19) and completed their campaign with the perfect record of 26 victories (75 points). The Panthers dropped only three points in 26 matches and ended the regular season undefeated for the second time, repeating what they had done in 2020-2021.
