USA coach Speraw: "We played well in all facets of the game"

Hiroshima, Japan, October 13, 2019 – Matthew Anderson scored 13 points as the United States defeated Australia 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-16) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on Sunday.

USA coach John Speraw: "There is a randomness to when you play that affects a team’s performance. We came in rested today after the day off and it showed in our energy and physicality. We played well in all facets of the game. We look forward to the next match."

USA captain Micah Christenson : "Happy with our performance. We served well, blocked and defended well, and passed the ball exceptionally well."

Australia coach Mark Lebedew: "They played a really good match. Playing Poland and the USA two in a row at this stage of the tournament when they are going for medals is difficult. They have quality and never let up. We had moments to get momentum but the USA was too strong. They would always make some play to stop us."

Australia captain Max Staples: "It is difficult to play against the USA with their consistent service pressure. If you can’t pass and score, they really add up."
