Russia coach Busato credits good reception for role in win over Korea

Yokohama, Japan, September 18, 2019 – Russia defeated Korea 3-0 (25-18, 29-27, 25-12) at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Wednesday and coach Sergio Busato felt his team’s good reception was responsible for the win.

Russia coach Sergio Busato: "We learned from our loss against China two days ago. Today we had good reception and gave good distribution to our captain and setter. I am very satisfied. Korea is one of the best teams in the world. We prepared for one Korea today but it was another Korea we played. My team was able to transition from one tactic to another today."

Russia captain Evgeniya Startseva: "In this competition it is important to give our best each match because there is great significance. Some aspects today were good, others were not, but I’m glad that we could win."

Korea coach Stefano Lavarini: "This was a match with a strong team. To compete with Russia we have to play at our very best. We gave the opportunity to some of the younger players today while looking toward the Olympic qualifying tournament in January. We will continue to do this.

"We had opportunities in the second set, but could not change our mentality. We did not have the luck or quality to be effective in the third set."

Korea player Park Jeongah: "So far some of us have not been able to play, so this was an opportunity for those players. It is disappointing that we lost by such a large margin."
