Men's World Cup Dream Team: Where are they now?

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 28, 2019 - The 2019 FIVB Men's World Cup now behind them, the shining stars of that competition are now back with their clubs, looking at leading them in their next endeavours as domestic and international club competitions begin across the world.

Alan Souza, Brazil's outside hitter who was named MVP at the World Cup for his contribution to the gold medal of the South American powerhouse, is back for a third season with SESI Sao Paulo in Brazil's Superleague.

The 25-year-old will be looking at pushing his side beyond the silver medal they've been stuck at in the last two seasons - challenging defending champions Funivic Taubate.

Up against Souza, though will be his two Brazilian team mates on the World Cup Dream Team, 33-year-old middle blocker Lucas Saatkamp and 30-year-old libero Thales Hoss, who will be behind the bid to keep the title in Taubate.

The other World Cup Dream Team middle blocker, Max Holt of USA, 32, continues with Italy's Leo Shoes Modena in the country's top flight, as they attempt to take the domestic title again for the first time in four years - as well as taking a shot at the European second-tier CEV Cup for their first international title since 2008.

Also competing in Italy's top league are the two outside hitters of the World Cup Dream Team.

Cuba-born Wilfredo Leon of Poland, 26, plays for Sir Safety Conad Perugia, as well as the premier European club event - the Champions League.

And 23-year-old Yuki Ishikawa, has moved this year from Siena to Kioene Padova, remaining in the Italian Superleague.

Micah Christenson, the World Cup Dream Team's setter, is playing alongside his fellow-American Holt in Modena - now for a second season.

And Dream Team opposite Yuji Nishida of Japan remains at home, where he'll be the driving force behind JTEKT Stings in the V.League 1 for a third straight season as they seek their first national title since 2013.
