Iran's Yali: "I’m happy the coach has trust in me"

Hiroshima, Japan, October 11, 2019 – Amirhossein Esfandiar and Porya Yali combined for 32 points as Iran beat Tunisia 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-22) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on Thursday.

Iran coach Igor Kolakovic: "The first set was tough. We did not have the ability to defend No. 10 (Nagga Hamza). After winning that set we played with more confidence. We were able to control with our blocks and tactical serves. We feel good now and wait for the next game."

Iran player Porya Yali: "I’m so happy to have the opportunity to play against Tunisia. After the loss to the USA we are happy to win this match. I’m happy the coach has trust in me. I’m happy to play in the World Cup and hope for more victories."

Tunisia coach Antonio Giaccobe: "We were into the game in the first set. We started to play point by point. They blocked well and control critical points. We could not use No. 11 (Ismail Moalla) who was injured today. We tried but it was not enough to win. Iran is a stronger team.

Tunisia captain Hosni Kara: "We do not like to lose. Iran is a strong team and kept their concentration. We played well but not enough to win. We showed some good play in the match. We hope to play better in the next matches."
