China's Zhu cites teamwork in victory over Korea

Yokohama, Japan, September 14, 2019 – China defeated Korea 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-14) at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Saturday and captain Zhu Ting credited teamwork for the victory.

China coach Lang Ping: "I wanted to highlight to our players the importance of getting used to a big competition like this. We wanted to get into a rhythm with our serve and reception today and we were adjusting this in the first set. The second and third sets went well."

China captain Zhu Ting: "Our team showed great teamwork today so we could have a good match. We have a tradition as a strong team."

China player Xinyue Yuan: "Today’s match we put what we had practiced into action. They attacked in a way that made it difficult for us so we had to adjust."

Korea coach Stefano Lavarini: "We entered today’s match with the will to compete against one of the world’s strongest teams. We had some good moments in the first set. China had a more powerful attack.

"We must do better in serving and passing. China served better and had passes in the setter’s hands. I hope we will learn from this match to play better in next matches."

Korea captain Kim Yeon Koung: "Our first match was against a strong team. It was a tough game to the end. We wanted a stronger service to disrupt them, but they ended up disrupting us with their serve. We will try to correct what we need to before the next match."
