China coach Lang says good reception keyed win over Russia

Yokohama, Japan, September 16, 2019 – China routed Russia 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-18) for their third straight win at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Monday and China coach Lang Ping credited her team’s reception for the victory.

China coach Lang Ping: "It is always a tough match against Russia. They have many tall players, so we prepare beforehand our service and reception. They must be tired after last night’s five-set match late. Our reception was good today which led us to be able to have quick attacks."

China captain Zhu Ting: "We were able to show good play today. Our block was very effective. I am happy with the victory."

China player Zhang Changning: "We had full preparation prior to the match. I am happy to win. We will prepare for the next match now. Today I was able to show my strengths while also knowing the shortcomings I need to work on."

Russia captain Evgeniya Startseva: "We should have been able to win especially after yesterday’s victory. I am very disappointed. We take this competition as an opportunity to test our own strength as we prepare for the Olympics."
