China coach Lang Ping happy young players could get experience against Cameroon

Yokohama, Japan, September 15, 2019 – China took their second victory with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-19) match over Cameroon at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Sunday and coach Lang Ping was happy that her younger players could get experience in a major competition.

China coach Lang Ping: "Our first purpose today was to give our younger players experience in a major competition. We were up and down today and late to respond at times. We did not have much research on Cameroon. They showed excellent play and have some talented players."

China player Wang Yuanyuan: "We were able to keep our composure today. We must reflect on the points we need to correct. This was my first time to play on the global stage and I’m happy that I had the chance."

China player Liu Xiaotong: "We are happy to win. Cameroon played great. We fought with all our might. We must strengthen and improve our level."

Cameroon coach Jean Rene Akono Bekono: "We are disappointed to lose. We could not win one set. China is a high-level team. We played better than yesterday. Our target here is to get better with each match. Our short preparation time has made it difficult for us."

Cameroon captain Christelle Nana Tchoudjang: "We played better today than yesterday. At the end of the third set we could have played better. We have evolved and will take the matches as they come from here on. Our motivation rose at the end of the second set. China had a good level of serve and reception."
