China coach confident after 3-0 win over Japan

Yokohama, Japan, September 19, 2019 – China beat Japan 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-17) to remain unbeaten with a 5-0 record at the FIVB Women’s World Cup on Thursday and coach Lang Ping is quietly confident now.

China coach Lang Ping: "We are playing pretty good now. We are in good physical condition, but we still have six matches to go. We have to take them one-by one. We were prepared for a strong team like Japan. We emphasized concentration because they are the home team with a big crowd. We were able to produce a result. We use each match in a major competition like this to enhance the skills of the players."

China captain Zhu Ting: "Today also we were able to play a good match with teamwork and unity. I’m glad that we won. We have shown what we practised."

China player Zhang Changning: "Japan is a good team. We are happy to win. We will continue to work hard."

Japan coach Kumi Nakada: "China is the top team in the world. One of the challenges for us was to start well. We have to be able to stop quick attacks. Their service disrupted us and their block stopped us. They are tall, fast, strong and sophisticated."

Japan captain Nana Iwasaka: "At the start we had momentum, but from halfway until the end we could change the momentum. Before we knew it, the match was over. We must do better on blocks and digs."

Japan player Mayu Ishikawa: "In the second set I came in when we did not have momentum. I want to help us regroup, be we could not do it. We hope to improve in the next matches."
