Shi Hairong, China: “We tried to be in front”

Aguascalientes, Mexico, July 21, 2019 - China swept the United States 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) finishing in seventh place at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Sun Yan, captain of China: “Finishing in seventh place of the best teams in the world is not so bad; we expected more but there is a lot of things we must improve.”

Shi Hairong, coach of China: “We tried to be in front of every move during this match. I am not totally satisfied with our overall performance, we improved as the tournament developed and we will make a better evaluation back home. Finishing with a victory always motivates the players.”

China earned seventh place at the FIVB Volleyball WU20 World Championship

Brooke Nuneviller, libero of United States: “As a team we played really well together, in the last few matches we made too many mistakes which we could have controlled much better. I don’t think there’s a second when we didn’t fight for every single point, we gave it our all. We needed to manage our game better, controlling out-of-system balls, passing better because if we get the ball to target it will be easier for our hitters.”

Elliott Jerritt, coach of United States: “I didn’t want the tournament to end because this is such a good group of girls to coach, we had so much fun learning from the best players in the world. I wish I could have had more time to experience more things with them and work on our systems.”
