Cairo – Egypt’s capital and a world famous city of 7.7 million people on the River Nile – has twice hosted FIVB age-group World Championships. In 1991 the Egyptian capital played host to the Men’s U21 World Championship and 10 years later it hosted the 2001 Boy’s U19 World Championship.

Cairo is at the heart of Egypt’s volleyball community. It is home to the Egyptian Volleyball Federation and African powerhouse Zamalek who have won the African Club Championship five times and competed at the Men’s Club World Championship in 2009 and 2012.

In 2015 Cairo hosted the African Women’s Club Championship, which served as a qualifying tournament for the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Club’s Championship in Zurich, Switzerland

Cairo Stadium Complex Halls is located near the International Stadium in Cairo. It is made of 4 Olympic standard arenas. It has been used for several events both sports and cultural events. In 2017, it staged the FIVB Men Under 23 Volleyball World Championships.
