Poland to face Brazil in final test before Olympic qualification

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 1, 2019 – Reigning world champions Poland will host reigning Olympic champions Brazil in their final competition before the International Olympic Qualification Tournaments take place.

Poland will take on Brazil in a repeat of the Italy-Bulgaria 2018 FIVB Volleyball World Championship final in the 17th Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial tournament that runs from August 1-3 at the Tauron Arena in Krakow. Other participating teams will be confirmed in due course.

Following the Wagner Memorial tournament Poland will host France, Slovenia and Tunisia in Gdansk from August 9-11. Brazil will travel to Bulgaria where they take on the host nation, Egypt and Puerto Rico.

The six winners of the Intercontinental Olympic Qualification Tournament pools will join host nation Japan at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Those who miss out will have another chance in January 2020 when each of the five continental confederations (AVC, CAVB, CEV, CSV, NORCECA) organise their own Olympic qualification tournament to advance one team each per gender to Tokyo 2020.
