Lausanne, Switzerland, January 12, 2020 – Iran, Venezuela and Canada grabbed the last three available tickets to the men’s Olympic volleyball tournament at Tokyo 2020. On Sunday, these three teams triumphed as winners of their respective continental Olympic qualifiers to receive their Daruma dolls, symbolizing their right to play at the 2020 Games.

Iran v China in Asian final; Colombia, Canada stay unbeaten
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 11, 2020 – Iran and hosts China advanced to the deciding final of Asia’s continental Olympic qualification tournament in Jiangmen. On Sunday, they will lock horns for the single available Asian ticket to Tokyo 2020. Colombia and hosts Chile posted wins on the second competition day of the South American qualifier in Santiago. In Vancouver, where the NORCECA event is taking place, hosts Canada and Puerto Rico came out victorious on Saturday.

France, Tunisia earn right to play at Tokyo 2020
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 10, 2020 – Tunisia became the first team to book one of the five tickets to Tokyo 2020, available through the continental Olympic qualification tournaments, by topping the standings at the event in Cairo. Shortly after, on Friday evening, France followed suit by winning the final of the European qualifier in Berlin.

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 3, 2020 – The five vacancies in the men’s volleyball tournament of the 2020 Olympic Games that are still available are about to be contested at various venues on all five continents over the next few days and the line-up for Tokyo 2020 should be finalized by January 12.

2019 Review: Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Poland, Russia, USA secure spots at 2020 Olympics
