Imoco Volley Conegliano are making their debut in the 2019 FIVB Women's Club World Championship, after securing one of the four wild cards handed out for this tournament.
Founded in 2012, Conegliano Volley currently play in Italy's prestigious A1 League. They are the reigning national champions, having secured their third title this year, following successful bids in 2016 and 2018. This is an addition to the national cup title in 2017 and two Supercups in 2016 and 2019.
This year they finished runners-up in the European Champions League after losing 3-1 in the final to Italian rivals Igor Gorgonzola Novara who are also competing in this year's Club World Championship.
It was the second unsuccessful attempt by Conegliano for the continental title. In 2017 they lost in the final in straight sets to Turkey's VakifBank Istanbul - yet another contender at the 2019 Club World Championship.
Before heading to China for the Club World Championship the two Italian rivals are set to meet in Milan on 16 November for the 2019-20 Italian Supercup.
