Host City

Host city: Lima

Lima is the capital of Peru and with a population of more than 12 million the country's largest city. Situated close to the Pacific coast, Lima was founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro in the area that was part of the Inca Empire, as the capital of the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru. The metropolitan area of Lima stretches all the way from the city centre to the coast, where its port of Callao lies.

Lima is a major centre of learning, hosting one of the oldest higher education institutions, the National University of San Marcos.

In 2019 Lima will host the XVIII Pan American Games.

This is the second year that Peru will be hosting the FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup. Last year, Bulgaria won their place for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, following their first position in the Challenger Cup.
