Lausanne, Switzerland, July 8, 2020 – French opposite Jean Patry has signed a two-year contract with Italian club Powervolley Milano, following last season’s stint with Top Volley Cisterna.
“I am pleased to announce that I have signed with Powervolley Milano,” said Patry on Instagram last week. “I am privileged and honoured to join this team. I am looking forward to start training for this new season.”
The 23-year-old towering opposite’s arrival is seen as a big reinforcement to the Milanese club’s roster for the 2020/2021 season, as he teams up with Japanese superstar Yuki Ishikawa.
Patry grew up in his hometown of Montpellier, where he played for five seasons in the French Ligue A, before moving to Cisterna in Italy, where he showed his scoring strength. He finished 20 matches with 375 points to become the third top scorer in the league.
Patry started his professional career playing for Montpellier University Club in the French league in 2014 and stayed there five seasons before moving to an Italian club in 2019.
At the Tokyo 2020 continental qualification tournament in Berlin, he led his squad to victory, deserving the title of MVP and Best Opposite. He represents the present and future French team that is aiming to win its first Olympic medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
