Smarzek makes new entry in exclusive scorers 'club'

Opole, Poland, May 22, 2019 - Malwina Smarzek became the first player in the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League to score 30 points or more in a single match, as she led Poland to a decisive win over Germany in four sets at home in Opole, Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old opposite brought in 32 points from 28 spikes, 3 blocks and 1 ace as Poland held off Germany 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24).

She makes another entry in the list of the exclusive 'Over 30s Club', after her three appearances from the 2018 VNL.

Smarzek also holds the overall VNL record of most points scored in a single match, with 39 from last year's defeat of Poland to Thailand in five sets.
