Karakurt leads Turkish comeback with 30 points against Poland

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 13, 2019 - Turkey's Ebrar Karakurt made the list of players to have scored 30 points or more in a single match, as Turkey came back from two sets down to beat Poland 3-2 (22-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25, 20, 15-12) on the closing day of Week 4 of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League.



The 19-year-old, who started the match opposite the setter but then moved to the outside from the third set onwards, had 24 kills from 50 swings (48%) and added five aces and one block to her tally.

She is the first Turkish to have scored 30+ in the VNL and the seventh overall this season after Poland's Malwina Smarzek four times (including an all-time VNL high of 41 points against Bulgaria), Italy's Paola Egonu (twice), the Dominican Republic's Brayelin Martinez, Thailand's Ajcharaporn Kongyot, Germany's Louisa Lippmann and Belgium's Kaja Grobelna.
