Can Gabi show the way for Brazil?

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 30, 2019 – Gabriela Braga Guimaraes, or Gabi as she is known to her Brazilian teammates and the rest of the volleyball world, has been in sensational form during the preliminary rounds of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.

In week five the wing spiker continued that form to help Jose 'Ze Roberto' Guimaraes’ team reach the VNL Finals that run from July 3-7 at the Olympic Sports Centre in Nanjing, China

She scored 13 points in the 3-0 victories over Belgium and Italy, and even in the defeat to Turkey the 25-year-old weighed in with a haul of 22 points.

Brazil’s number 10 has also shown her value in defence, with hands or with feet as she shows in the video, which is sure to prove vital in their VNL Finals pool matches against the 2018 champions USA, and Poland.

With Brazil aiming to make up for missing out on the medals at the 2018 VNL Finals, Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and Japan 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship, Gabi will need to maintain such form if they are to leave China with a medal.
