The 2019 Volleyball Nations League began on May 21 with 16 women's national teams taking to the courts. The men's competition started on May 31 with pool play in both genders taking place over five weeks followed by the Women's VNL Finals in Nanjing, China from July 3-7 and the Men's VNL Finals in Chicago, USA from July 10-14.
