Walker serves record seven aces in all-time highest-scoring VNL match

Katowice, Poland, June 1, 2019 - Australia's Samuel Walker served seven aces Saturday afternoon in Katowice against Brazil, breaking the all-time FIVB Volleyball Nations League high and establishing the new record to go for in most aces in a single match.

The 24-year-old outside hitter was also joint top scorer in Australia's 3-2 (32-34, 25-16, 25-19, 27-29, 15-13) defeat to Brazil, alongside his team-mate Jordan Richards, on a match-high 21 points each.

His seven aces break the previous VNL serving record of six, jointly held from last year's inaugural edition by three players.

Another Aussie, Lincoln Williams served six aces against Russia, as did Canada's Graham Vigrass against Bulgaria and Russia's Igor Philippov against USA in the 2018 VNL.

Today's five-setter of Australia against Brazil was also the highest-scoring match in the history of the VNL, at 235 points (124+111). The previous record was 234 points in just four sets and also involved Australia - from their 3-1 (25-27, 41-39, 29-27, 25-21) win over China in Seoul.
