Thailand’s Fab Five: Creating a legacy

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 4, 2020 – Wilavan Apinyapong, Pleumjit Thinkaow, Nootsara Tomkom, Onuma Sittirak and Malika Kanthong are Thailand's Fab Five. Synergy, intuition and creativity define their style of play, which makes them incredibly exciting to watch.



The Thai quintet have developed the kind of chemistry and bond that can only result from many hours spent together on and off the court. And they have created their own brand of play, which has delighted fans around the world.

People have come in droves with their families and friends to watch them play. In Thailand, fans gathered not just to cheer for their home team, but also to show appreciation to the visiting sides which made a strong, lasting and positive impact on this volleyball-loving nation.


Their Olympic dreams may have to wait a few more years but their positive influence on the future generation of Thai volleyball athletes will be a legacy to be celebrated.

Their fame has also had an influence beyond the field of play, helping the Fab Five to become household names as they continue to grow the sport. Their commercial appeal has had big Thai and international companies asking them to represent their brands and appear in larger-than-life billboards all over the country’s major thoroughfares.





Their success is unparalleled. And the good that they have done for the sport – that is their power and that is the beauty of their game!

Thailand will be back in action in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League later this year.
