Serbia set foundation for VNL campaign

 

Belgrade, Serbia, April 23, 2019 - After announcing a list of players for this year's international competitions earlier this month, Serbia coach Nikola Grbic met with team staff ahead of their debut in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League on May 31, when the Balkan country host France, Russia and Japan in Pool 4 in Novi Sad.

Serbia announced the following wide roster of players ahead of the 2019 Volleyball Nations League, which will also see the team travel to Canada, Portugal, Italy and Bulgaria.

Setters: Nikola Jovovic, Maksim Buculjevic, Andrija Vilimanovic, Aleksa Batak, Vuk Todorovic
Opposites: Aleksandar Atanasijevic, Drazen Luburic, Dusan Petkovic, Bozidar Vucicevic, Lazar Dodic
Liberos: Neven Majstorovic, Goran Skundric, Nikola Pekovic, Stefan Negic
Blockers: Srecko Lisinac, Marko Podrascanin, Petar Krsmanovic, Aleksandar Okolic, Nemanja Masulovic, Stevan Simic, Djordje Ilic, Stefan Kovacevic

Serbia were ranked fourth at the 2018 and inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria and were bronze medallists at the 2017 CEV European Championship. Their season includes the 2019 Volleyball Nations League, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Qualification Tournament and the 2019 CEV European Championship - the team will begin preparing for its VNL campaign mid-May.

Grbic will be assisted by Team Manager Danilo Mrdja, Assistant Coach Bojan Janic, Staff Coordinator Vladimir Koprivica, and physical trainers Uros Stojcov, Stefan Markuljevic, Zdravko Anicic and Vladan Mihajlovic. They will be joined by Analyst Tomaso Tottolo, Assistant Coach Igor Zakic, Doctor Ljuban Martinovic, Physiotherapist Dejan Vukovic and Statistician Djordje Pejic who are currently still working with their respective clubs.
