Get to know: Italy setter Simone Giannelli

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 30, 2019 – Simone Giannelli will be aiming to add even more to his nascent volleyball career when he lines up for Italy in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

The 22-year-old setter has already four years of top-level experience that he hopes to tap into when Italy try to reach the Finals which they failed to do in 2018.

Giannelli has already helped Italy to silver at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and bronze at the CEV 2015 Men’s European Championship. Most recently he helped Trentino Volley to gold at the Poland 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship.

For a young player Giannelli has always had an ice-cool temperament, it explains why he was able to make his Trentino debut the night before an important school exam.
