Lausanne, Switzerland, June 1, 2019 – Kawika Shoji and Erik Shoji have both enjoyed a taste of success with USA and they will be aiming to add to their impressive medal tally when they begin their 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League campaign.
John Speraw’s team began with a tough opening assignment on Friday, losing against reigning Olympic champions Brazil. They take on back to back world champions and pool hosts Poland on Saturday in Katowice. They then play Australia on Sunday.
At 31 Kawika is two years older than the 29-year-old libero Erik and being brothers has underpinned their status as teammates.
The brothers hail from Hawaii and they both studied and played for Stanford University, one of the USA’s leading college teams. They were also part of USA sides that won bronze at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, Italy-Bulgaria 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship and the 2018 VNL.
