Brazil announces 11 members of men’s national team

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 15, 2019 – The Brazilian volleyball federation (CBV) announced three more members of the men’s national team on Monday who will join the eight players announced on April 12.

The first batch of players that were revealed were setter Eduardo Carisio, opposites Rafael Araujo and Felipe Roque, middle blockers Flavio Gualberto and Matheus Bishop, outside spikers Carlos Eduardo Barreto (Kadu) and Henrique Honorato, and libero Maique Reis.

The eight players started their training under the direction of Marcelo Fronckowiak, as head coach Renan Dal Zotto is still completing his work with EMS Funvic Taubate in the Cimed Superliga finals.

The three that were added to the roster were setters Fernando Kreiling (Fernando Cachopa) and Thiago Veloso (Thiaguinho) and outside spiker Rodrigo Leao (Rodriguinho) after their respective squads were eliminated in the semifinals.

The group will start their preparations for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, the Olympic qualification tournaments, the South American Championship and the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup.

Coach Renan and his squad will vie for the second title of the Volleyball Nations League starting May 31 in Katowice, Poland, where they will face the United States, Australia and Poland.

The team will then travel to Tokyo, Japan to play the hosts, Iran and Argentina from June 7-9, and then face Portugal, Serbia and China in Gondomar, Portugal from June 14-16.

They will have two straight stages to play in front of their supporters as Cuiaba hosts a leg of the fourth week, going up against Bulgaria, Germany and Russia from June 21-23, and then at Brasilia to host Italy, Canada and France from June 28-30.

The men’s final round will take place from July 10 to 14 in the city of Chicago in the United States.
