Bolivar Voley win Argentina men’s national league title

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 26, 2019 – Bolivar Voley concluded their best-of-five series in thrilling fashion to take the 2019 Argentina men’s national league title.

The spectacular series concluded with notable success for Bolivar as the club captured its eighth title in the history of the league and for Javier Weber for his sixth title as Bolivar’s coach.

Bolivar started the series with a 3-0 home win, but lost to Obras de San Juan by a two-point margin in the tiebreaker on their home court at the Republic de Venezuela Stadium. Bolivar won again in Game 3 in four sets, but the hosts once again dazzled in the fifth set of Game 4 to tie the series.

With the series tied at 2-2, Bolivar rallied from two sets down to win 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-13, 18-16) against Obras de San Juan in the fifth and final match of the championship series in front of their home fans.



National team players Pablo Crer and Agustin Loser were key to Bolivar’s win in the fifth set. Crer’s block put Bolivar up in the final sprint 14-13, while Loser’s deflection of the Obras attack sealed the title win at 18-16.

The Bolivar pair are expected to join Maximiliano Cavanna, Gaspar Bitar, Matias Giraudo, Bruno Lima, Manuel Balague, Federico Pereyra, Martin Ramos, Gaston Fernández, Maximiliano Gauna, Joaquín Gallego, Ezequiel Palacios, Ignacio Luengas, Cristian Poglajen, Lisandro Zanotti, Nicolas Lazo, Luciano Palonsky and Facundo Santucci, who started training for the national team for the 2019 season.

Last year, Crer and Loser saw action at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League and the latter was the second best blocker in the tournament and the team’s best scorer with 163 points from 112 spikes, 32 blocks and six aces.
