Nanjing, China, July 7, 2019 – Brazil’s Natalia Pereira and Gabi Guimaraes have played together since 2012 and over the course of time have established a strong bond off the court and a reputation as Ze Roberto’s pillars in offence. The two players lead the Brazilian team as they take on the finals of 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
“We are BFFs, we are really good friends,” Natalia said. “We always support each other and be happy for each other. We really have that good connection on the court and outside the court. We have a good relationship. I love Gabi so much!”
To be friends and teammates has its advantages and that good relationship certainly translates well whenever they hit the court.
“It’s amazing to be seeing the same person everyday,” Natalia said. “We are really good friends because we’ve been playing together for a long time in the national team and many times in the same club. We are even roommates whenever we travel and the set up has always been like this.
“This has been very easy for us and we are not even trying. There is absolutely no competition between us. We try to help each other instead. This is the secret to our great relationship.”
We asked them how they would describe each other and this is what they said:
“Gabi is really a funny girl,” Natalia revealed. “She would always say good morning and make a funny face. It’s difficult to see her with an angry or a sad face. Sometimes when we are in training she would have a serious face and I would wonder if there is something wrong with her. She would just say – Oh I’m just tired but that’s it. She really has a big heart and she is an amazing person.”
“I would say the same about Natalia plus she’s a good dancer,” said Gabi laughing hard as she revealed her friend’s secret talent. “Seriously, she’s incredible and she’s one of the best persons I’ve met in my life.”
Natalia responded, “I am really a good dancer.”
