José Gomes was born in Vila do Conde in 1994 and 10 years later he played for the first time at his hometown club GC Vilacondense where he played for 10 seasons. He also played for Castelo da Maia GC, AA S Mamede and Vitoria SC. He had his first international transfer in 2017 playing in Germany for TSV Hernsching and currently in Romania for Club Sportiv Dinamo. The 198-cm relatively young power spiker with good talent and has a powerful attack. He has also a strong jump serve with which he can make the difference in the match. Coming from the Youth national teams his first call was in 2010 to the junior team. He played in the University Team in the Taipé Summer Universiades 2017 and in the Mediterranean Games 2018. His first match with the senior team was at the 2012 World League. He’s been with the National Senior Men’s Team in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
