Jose Pedro Monteiro was born in Espinho in 1991. He started to play at the age of 8 years old in SC Espinho, club which he represented for 13 seasons and where he learned so much. In between he played for one season at Esmoriz GC. In 2013 he transferred to CA Madalena where he played for 2 seasons. After he transferred to Terceira Island to play for AJF Bastardo in 2015/16 when he won the Portuguese championship and remained there for one more season before returning to the mainland to play for Sporting CP winning the national championship in 2017/18. He played for the first time in the national team in 2009. The 180-cm setter is a clever and tactical player and possesses also a good variation in the serve with a reference to the surprise of his jump serve. He is a good friend and brings dynamics to the team. He returned to the National Team in 2018 and was in all the competitions such as the Golden European League and the Qualification to the 2019 EuroVolley with important plays in the Challenger Cup final and a strong presence in the matches when the team had the need to change.
