Team profile

After an utterly amazing performance in 2015 when they captured the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League title with an impressive sweep of their Group 2 matches and an even more striking appearance in the Group 1 Final Six in Rio de Janeiro, France added another World League medal in 2016, finishing third with a 3-0 sweep of Italy in the bronze medal game. They had previously capped their brilliant 2015 season with the gold medal at the European Championship in Sofia.
And France did it again in 2017, when they stunned Brazil 3-2 in the World League final in Curitiba to claim their second gold in the competition in three years.
France were top contenders again in 2018 at the inaugural FIVB Volleyball Nations League, but after an incredible run finally fell to Russia in the gold medal match which they hosted at home in Lille. A little later last year they finished 7th in the FIVB World Championship, just failing to make the final round - three positions down from 2014 when they lost to Germany in the bronze medal match.
France competed in the Olympic Games for the fourth time in Rio 2016, finishing 9th. Their best ever Olympic performance was a 8th place in Seoul 1988.
