 In 2005, Lucas defended the Junior national team which placed second in the 2005 World Championship. Still in this year, he was called for the senior South American Championship. In 2006, he conquered his first World League title - the competition would have been won twice again in 2009 and 2010. Playing for the national team, he won the World Championship title in 2010, right after being crowned Champions Cup and South American champion. In 2011, Lucas took part on the World League second place campaign, was champion of the South American Championship and got a bronze medal in the World Cup. Last year he brought a silver medal for Brazil from the Olympic Games in London. In 2013, a silver medal in the World League, a gold medal in the South American Championship and in the Grand Champions Cup are his achievements. In 2014, Lucão had an important performance in the FIVB World League and was elected the second best middle blocker. In the FIVB World Championship, Lucão helped Brazil to win the silver medal. Lucão was part of the tem in all 2015 season, the middle blocker played the World League and the South American Games, and helped Brazil to win the last one. In 2016 he was in the main team that achieved the silver medal in the FIVB World League and in the was one of the stars in the campaign of the gold medal in the Olympic Games of 2016. In 2017, the player was with the national team during the FIVB World League, South American Games and Grand Champions Cup. He was named the best middle blocker in the FIVB 2018 World Championship and helped Brazil to achieve the silver medal.
