This weekend, the USA will travel to Modena, Italy, needing to secure only one point to claim their berth in Lille, whilst Russia, the reigning European champions will travel to Melbourne, Australia, in search of the two vital points required.

But that leaves three more berths to be filled over the last weekend of preliminary rounds, with world volleyball powerhouses such as reigning Olympic champions Brazil, reigning world champions Poland and Rio 2016 silver medallists Italy all vying to make the first ever VNL Finals.

With Brazil, Poland and Serbia all tied at 8-4, Italy at 7-5 will need to step up their game and hope someone else stumbles if they are to make it to Lille. Canada and Japan at 6-6 and even Germany, Australia and Bulgaria at 5-7 are theoretically in with a chance. We have seen some incredible upsets so far, could week five provide another twist in the tale?

Five days of enthralling Finals action will captivate fans as each team battles to become VNL Champion. France are guaranteed a place in the Finals as hosts, but would have directly qualified on merit alone after some fantastic team performances! They now have the opportunity to win the inaugural VNL in front of their home crowd.

The VNL is also bringing sport and music together and fans in attendance are guaranteed an incredible party atmosphere. On Sunday July 8, global superstar DJ’s NERVO will perform ahead of the gold medal showpiece event. NERVO created their latest track, World’s Collide, specifically for the VNL, and will get the crowd fired up for the final match of the entire competition.
