Serbia look to extend head-to-head record with Korea

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 14, 2018 - Serbia face Korea Thursday in their last pool match of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations, having already qualified to the Final Six since their win on Tuesday over USA. Serbia and Korea go head-to-head for the tenth time in history, with the Balkan side leading the series 7-2. Last time Korea beat Serbia was in the 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix.

Head-to-Head
• Serbia (including Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro) have won seven of the previous nine meetings with Korea at major world level tournaments.
• The women's world level major competitions are: the VNL, Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, World Grand Prix and Grand Champions Cup.
• Korea's victories over Serbia were 3-1 wins at the London 2012 Olympic Games and 2014 World Grand Prix.
• Their most recent major world level meeting came at the 2015 World Cup, when Serbia won in straight sets.

Korea
• Korea have lost eight of their last nine VNL matches, after winning four of their first five matches.
• Fourteen of Korea's last 15 defeats at major world level came in straight sets, with the 3-1 defeat against Brazil in the VNL as the only exception.
• Korea can claim their 200th win in major world level competitions.
• Jaeyeong Lee (13) was Korea's leading scorer in their last VNL match, against the United States.
• Only Yeon Koung Kim (175) has scored more points for Korea at the VNL than Lee (141).

Serbia
• Serbia beat Argentina 3-0 on 13 June, their 11th win at the VNL. They are among the six teams to have qualified for the Final Round.
• Serbia (including Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro) have won 11 matches at a single major world level tournament for the first time.
• Serbia have won the opening set in each of their last eight VNL matches.
• Ana Bjelica (18), Milena Rasic (16) and Bojana Milenkovic (14) all reached double figures in scoring for Serbia against Argentina.
• Rasic scored five of her 16 points against Argentina from serves, half of Serbia's total points from serves (10) in that match.
