Nawrocki: We would like to make our fans happy

Bydgoszcz, Poland, June 5, 2018 - Hosts Poland defeated Argentina 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-20) in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Bydgoszcz on Tuesday.

Poland coach Jacek Nawrocki said: "Starting from today we can look at the ranking table with more calm. The girls played the first two sets very focused and kept the set goals in mind. In the next matches here in Bydgoszcz as well as in Walbrzych we would again like to make our fans happy and give ourselves a reason to feel satisfied."

Poland player Marlena Plesnierowicz said: "We concentrated on fulfilling the goals we had set before the game, we played very carefully and most of all efficiently. We earned three points and we’re very happy about it. Defeating Argentina was crucial for us in order to get closer to staying in the VNL’s elite. Participating in the Volleyball Nations League is a great experience, we can play against the best teams in the world. I am proud of my whole team and I am already happy that we will have another season in the VNL."

Argentina coach Guillermo Orduna said: "Today we played very bad, in the first set we had a lot of mistakes in reception, block-defence and side-out were not good. In the second set we improved the side-out but block-defence was still not functioning very well. Poland is very strong in attack and we need good block defence to play at this level and against this kind of opponent. It’s important that we now focus on the next game, recognize our mistakes, make improvements for tomorrow and start the match against Belgium with focus on our service and attack, avoiding our own mistakes."

Argentina captain Julieta Lazcano said: "Poland played really well today. They have very tall players and it was the biggest difficulty for us. They were very good in attack and also in block. Tomorrow we will play with Belgium and it will be a different game. I don’t use the word “easier” because for us every game is a challenge, but for sure it will be a different match than with Poland. We feel well-prepared for tomorrow and well-motivated, because we need those wins. For sure Belgian players are not as tall as the Polish ones so this can be our chance."
