France look on home support in Korea match

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 5, 2018 - After suffering two shock defeats in Week 2 of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, France look to capitalise on home supprt as they return to Aix-en-Provence to host winless Korea Friday. Korea, who are still seeking their first win in the competition, have not beaten France since the 2011 FIVB World League, having lost their last 10 matches, with the overall head-to-head standing at 15-8 for the Europeans.

Head-to-Head
• France have won each of their last 10 matches against Korea in world level major competitions (all in the World League).
• World level major competitions are: the VNL, Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, World League and Grand Champions Cup.
• Korea's last win against France in a world level major competition came at the 2011 World League. Korea won two of the four encounters with France in that World League season, both 3-1.
• In total, France have won 15 world level major encounters against Korea and have lost eight.

France
• France started the VNL with three wins in the first weekend, but won only once in the second weekend.
• France lost their last match in five sets against China. France have now lost their last two five setters in world level major competitions, after winning three five setters prior.
• France won the first set in five of their six VNL matches, with their straight set loss against Poland as the only exception.
• Stephan Boyer has scored 70 points for France, making him the team top scorer. Kevin Tillie follows with 57 points. Tillie scored a team-high 16 points in their last match against China.

Korea
• Korea have yet to win a VNL match. They are the only team in the competition without a victory.
• In their last match against Japan, Korea claimed their first point after losing in five sets. Every country has now claimed at least one point in the Nations League.
• Korea can lose seven matches in a single world level major competition for the first time since losing 10 matches at the 2015 World League.
• Jiseok Jung has scored 49 points and is the Korea's top scorer in the VNL.
• No other team has a top scorer who has scored fewer than 50 points.
