Brazil out to extend record against Thailand

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 13, 2018 - Having secured their spot at the Final Six with Tuesday's win over Belgium, Brazil are now stress-fre when they face Thailand in Eboli in their penultimate pool play match of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League. The South Americans have only lost once to Thailand in 18 head-to-head encounters, though that was last time they met, at the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix.

Head-to-Head
• At last year's World Grand Prix, Thailand beat Brazil for the first time at a major world level tournament. They won in straight sets.
• The women's world level major competitions are: the VNL, Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, World Grand Prix and Grand Champions Cup.
• Brazil had won each of their first 17 major world level meetings with Thailand, losing only two sets in those matches.
• Only United States (20) and China (18) have won more major world level matches against Thailand than Brazil (17).

Brazil
• Brazil have won 11 of their 13 VNL matches, only suffering defeats against Germany (3-1, match 1) and United States (3-1, match 11).
• After Tuesday's win against Belgium, Brazil have qualified for the final round in Nanjing.
• Brazil won the first set on Tuesday against Belgium after failing to do so in all three matches in week 4.
• Brazil have now won at least one set in each of their last 21 major world level competition matches, their longest such streak since 49 matches in 2012-2014.
• Tandara Caixeta again paced her team against Belgium, scoring a team-high 15 points. Her tournament total now is 215 points, 90 more than Brazil's second-most prolific scorer, Ana Beatriz 'Bia' Correa (125).

Thailand
• Thailand have lost their last seven VNL matches. In total, Thailand have lost 11 of their 13 matches at the 2018 VNL.
• This is Thailand's longest losing streak within a single major world level tournament since losing the first eight matches of the 2007 World Cup.
• Thailand's two wins at the 2018 VNL came against Argentina (3-0) on 17 May and versus Poland (3-2) on 24 May.
• Thailand scored only 43 points against Italy on Tuesday. Five players contributed in the scoring, with Chatchu-On Moksri (8 points) leading.
