Antiga hopes for enough energy to fight for one more triumph

San Juan, Argentina, June 2, 2018 – Canada claimed an important victory over hosts Argentina to win two in a row in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Saturday.

Canada coach Stephane Antiga: “We’re very happy to get two victories in a row. We had to fight a lot. Argentina played better than yesterday and it was difficult to play against them especially in the last two sets. I hope we have enough energy to fight for one more triumph tomorrow.”

Canada captain Tyler Sanders
: Obviously getting two wins in a row is important for us. It was a very difficult match. They are a great defensive team and they made us really work for it. We are satisfied with the win, but we are tired as well, so let’s see what happens tomorrow.”

Argentina coach Julio Velasco: “It was a very hard match, but I’m happy with the team because they played with much more determination than yesterday. We had less mistakes, but our defeat has a lot to do with Canada’s performance. They defended a lot, covered very well and organised their counter-attack in a great way. Our team kept fighting despite that and that’s an improvement. We have to keep working for tomorrow’s game.”

Argentina captain Martin Ramos
: “We played a really good match especially in the third and fourth sets. We improved a lot. Canada played very well that’s why they won, but we did our part too. We’re on the right way, with the World Championship in mind.”
