After leading Slovenia's National Team to unexpected successin 2015 and 2016, 48-year-old Andrea Giani moved to Germany last year and took over from Vital Heynen. The former middle blocker of the Italian National Team, claimed 474 caps and never played for clubs outside of Italy. He was crowned World Champion three times (1990, 1994 and 1998) and has won two silver (Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004) and one bronze (Sydney 2000) Olympic medals in addition to numerous other titles. Amongst several other individual awards, he was named MVP of the 1995 FIVB World Cup and the 1999 European Championships. As a coach he led Slovenia to an astonishing run which culminated with the silver medal at the 2015 European Championship.
