2021 South American circuit begins with victories for Brazil and Venezuela

Nine countries compete in Santiago, Chile

The first stage of the 2021 South American Beach Volleyball Circuit was completed on Wednesday with Brazilians George Wanderley/André Loyola Stein winning gold in the men's competition and Venezuelans Gabriela Brito/Norisbeth Agudo in the women's.

The Venezuelans defeated Ana Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra of Argentina 2-1 (15-21, 21-18, 15-13) in the final. “We knew how to get out of the first defeat of the tournament against Chile," said Agudo. "We made the adjustments. Each game is a new opportunity and we showed it here."

Speaking about the men's final, André said: “It was a very difficult game against the Argentines. We know each other and they play very well. We lost the first set, but we fought back in the second and managed to make the return.” The Brazilians defeated Nicolas Capogrosso and Julian Azaad of Argentina 2-1 (12-21, 21-14, 15-13).

A total of nine South American countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay participated in the event in Santiago, Chile.
