German opposite Louisa Lippmann has signed with Russia’s Lokomotiv Kаliningrad. She is set to make her debut for her new team as soon as this Saturday when they travel to Proton Saratov for their next Superliga match.

Germany's Female Player of the Year for the past four years arrived in Kaliningrad after competing for China’s Shanghai Bright Ubest. In her club career so far, Lippmann has also played for teams from Germany and Italy, but this is the first time she signs with a Russian club.
“I am delighted with the opportunity to continue the season with such a solid team as Lokomotiv. I am also very keen on testing my skills in the Russian Superliga, a very strong competition with good teams. There are many powerful players here and I have no doubt that I will get new and very useful experience at Lokomotiv. I am looking forward to the moment when I enter the court,” the 1.91m-tall star told vc-lokomotiv.com.
The 26-year-old German international will partner with other top-level international stars like Dutch setter Laura Dijkema, a former teammate at Italy’s Il Bisonte Florence and Germany’s Dresdner SC Dresden, and Russian national team outside Irina Voronkova.
Loko were Superliga runners-up for the past two seasons and 2019 Russia Super Cup winners. They have played only 12 matches in the Superliga so far this season, but their 9-3 win-loss record puts them in fifth place in the current standings, well within reach of the teams above. They are set to enter the upcoming second tournament in their CEV Champions League pool as the second-placed team after the first tournament.
