Zeleznicar Lajkovac and Ribnica Kraljevo captured the 2020/2021 Serbian Cup titles at the Vlade Divac Sports Hall in Vrnjacka Banja.
Zeleznicar Lajkovac won the women's trophy for the third time in history following their back-to-back triumphs in 2018 and 2019, with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) sweep of defending champions Zok Ub, while Ribnica Kraljevo secured their first title since 1978 with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 24-26, 25-23) victory over Radnicki doo Kragujevac.
Zeleznicar setter Rada Perovic and Ribnica outside hitter and captain Ivan Todorovic were named MVPs of the Serbian Cup Finals.
"This is a great incentive for us to work even harder," Perovic said. "We are so happy that we won the Serbian Cup final against Ub and I am personally delighted with the MVP award. There is still slightly a bitter taste of being eliminated in the championship playoffs, but this is a great consolation for us."
"This is the top of my career, to be honest, and I have won many trophies on the international scene. It feels as if I had won the Olympic gold medal, really," said an elated Todorovic.
Volleyball Federation of Serbia president Mr Zoran Gajic and Mayor of the Vrnjacka Banja municipality Mr Boban Djurovic presented Zeleznicar captain Aleksandra Gajic and Ribnica captain Todorovic with the Serbian Cup trophies.
