Matt Anderson always brings his A-game to every role he plays, from being the main scoring option to being the reliable defensive support at the net for the United States.
At the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Anderson played Superman for his team and led them to bronze after a straight-set (25-21, 28-26, 28-26) win over Brazil to complete the inaugural tournament with Best Opposite honours. When Chicago played host to the the VNL the following year, Anderson had an all-out performance in the Finals and tallied 50 kills, three blocks and four aces, which earned him the Best Opposite and MVP honours, and a silver medal finish.
He was recently signed by China-based Shanghai Golden Age, but was not able to complete the season. He has suited up for four club teams during a professional career spanning over a decade - Hyundai Capital (2008-2010), Volley Callipo (2010-2011), Modena Volley (2011-2012, 2019-2020) and Zenit Kazan (2012-2019). And it was at Russian club Zenit Kazan that he had his most successful stint with a gold and two silver medals at the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championships and four gold medals and a bronze medal in the CEV Champions League.
